Responding to our region's challenges with collaborative solutions

 

• Advocated for funding for culturally-specific chambers of commerce, the expansion of Portland Street Response, and a comprehensive humanitarian approach to homelessness during City and County budget processes.

• Succeeded in passing two legislative bills in partnership with Oregon Small Business United: HB2266B increases access to capital for rural, veteran, female and BIPOC entrepreneurs, and HB2966A extended the grace period of commercial rent repayment to avoid pandemic evictions.

• Actively participated in the once-in-a-decade development of the region’s Comprehensive Economic Development Strategy to ensure that our region has a plan to build an economy that reduces inequities for families and small businesses.

• Advocated for climate change mitigation and equitable outcomes in transportation policy, including participation in a City task force on Pricing Options for Equitable Mobility.

Advancing a vision of shared prosperity

 
 

• Wrote about the importance of creating greater shared prosperity in Portland. “Instead of just ‘cleaning up’ what was, let’s build the future we want.”

• Participated in community forums on the future of Portland, including the Portland City Club’s “State of the Economy” panel discussion, and Portland Forward’s “Revitalizing Portland.”

Called for greater economic inclusion in the Portland Business Journal.

Supporting a vibrant and equitable community

 
 

• BBPDX has joined community organizations, local leaders, business owners and elected officials in signing Western States Center’s Pledge to Defend Democracy.

• Rallied our members in support of important community projects including the Vanport Mosaic Festival, Outdoor School: the Movie, and Heat Emergency protections.

Sharing member voices with local leaders

 
 

Hosted a week of member forums with City Councilors.

• Hosted Monthly Member Meetings.

• Hosted members-only forums with elected officials including: Congresswoman Suzanne Bonamici, Multnomah County Chair Deborah Kafoury, Oregon Secretary of State Shemia Fagan, Metro Council President Lynn Peterson, and Portland City Councilors JoAnn Hardesty, Mingus Mapps, Carmen Rubio, and Dan Ryan.
